Choosing your favorite photograph is not always easy. A few days ago I asked other Artvers in photography communities on the web to help me decided whether I should print my photograph in color or print black and white.

I was up late working and I want to remember those late nights up because the hard work I put forward is setting me up for my future.

I took my tripod out side, shot the image of the view from my apartment quickly so I could get back to working; it’s better for me to say I took a snap shot quickly with my dslr instead of using a point and shoot. I used the dslr because I will make a large print that will hang in my homes.

I decided to choose the image in color; this time I chose it because it was the favorite choice from Artvers.

For your example I liked the color best. I have several things I use to decide if a photo will be in color or black and white. 1) Is there a lot of contrasts? and Will turning up the contrast make the photo better in black and white. 2) What makes this photo? The main focus is it the color, extreme case, but if it is a sunset I will keep it color most likely. I love black and white portraits, especially if there is some great lighting. For my clients I will do a color and a black and white and let them chose.
3) This may sound silly, but I have had cases where the lighting was just off, the flash didnt go off or the color (white balance) was out of kilter and I can’s seem to get it exactly the way I want. When I converted the photo to black and white, it became beautiful and seemed to really snap. Sometimes the best way to correct a “not so great” photo is to convert it to black and white. It may need more tweeking with contrast and lightening and darkening or opacity but it works.
