Hands For Hunger Photographing For Hands For Hunger

Hands For Hunger was started by a group of Bahamian student leaders in early 2008. These students were, and are still committed to making a difference in the world. Each day the Hands For Hunger’s team sets out to pick up fresh, high quality food and transports (within hours) to those who need it most. Hands For Hunger (H4H), Founder and Program Coordinator / a good friend of mine, Alanna Rodgers contacted me to photograph H4H helping the Salvation Army’s Soup Kitchen on Nassau, Bahamas. Words can’t explain how important it is and how happy it makes me, to see a group of young Bahamians making difference. If me taking a photograph for them mean that I would have helped make that difference, you better believe they counted me in!

This was not the first time I’ve photographed for H4H and it will not be the last. I’ve photographed the first meetings calling for young Bahamians to help, the picking up of food donations, but it’s was this event that touched me the most. The photograph of the gentleman above, blessing before the food, captures how thankful they are for our help.

There will not be a part two of this article describing how I photographed the event. I was inspired to share this photograph with you because I want you to help make a difference in your home down to help promote the value of a photograph.

Every Wednesday on Scott Kelby’s blog Photoshop Insider there’s a Guest Blogger; Jeremy Cowart was last week’s Guest Blogger. Jeremy posted a link titled Help-Portrait. I am going to take part and I think you should as well. He explains how, on December 12th, 2009 photographers, at any level, will put a smile on the faces of those in need. Please take a look at the video [The Link]. Please put a smile on a face December 12th, 2009, it might be the best Christmas gift you ever gave.
